Clark Gillies Foundation

Clark Gillies, a former forward for the New York Islanders, is known for his ability on the ice. However, it is his role in the community that led him to form the Clark Gillies Foundation in 1999. As a professional athlete and businessman on Long Island, he feels that he has been blessed with many successes. His goal has always been to be able to give back to the communities that have been so good to him and his family. He feels that children are an investment not only in our future, but that by helping them we are enriching our own lives. He has focused his goal of helping children through his foundation.

A native of Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, Canada, Clark thrilled fans during his illustrious 14-year career in hockey. He led the Islanders to four consecutive Stanley Cups. Clark was captain of the team from 1976-78; a first team all-star for 1977-78 and the Most Valuable Player in the 1979 Challenger Cup vs. the Russians. The Islanders retired his #9 jersey in December 1996.

On November 4th, 2002, Mr. Gillies was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame.
